How to unlock LG A100 ?

The LG A100 can be unlocked if it is not already. This new LG mobile was announced this month (May 2011) and appears to be a GSM network device. There does not appear to be a lot of specifications or details published for the A100 yet. In fact it is hard to tell if it is quite out yet, but it appears to be coming soon this Summer. None of the less, we have written this guide, because any device that runs on the GSM network usually uses a SIM card to interface with towers/carriers/etc. The instructions provided in this guide are for removing the SIM lock that is placed on many of these phones. In fact these general instructions can often work to unlock any LG phone that runs off a SIM card.

Before you can get started, however, you will need to get your LG A100′s unlock code. This can be done by finding your device’s IMEI number. To get the LG A100 IMEI number, you must type the sequence below:

After you hit send/enter or immediately after you finish typing the last character, you should see a 15-digit number displayed on your screen. This is your IMEI number. Using this number you will be able to calculate your unlock code. Unfortunately there are no generators out there for this device and you must either attain it by calling up your cell phone carrier and requesting one, or by using a third-party service, such as talked about below. Regardless, of how you are able to get your code, you should either be given instructions from the carrier or vendor you make the request to. In the event that you are not able to get any instructions you can use the steps we have provided below, which again, should work with most LG GSM devices.

1. Insert an unaccepted SIM card.

2. Turn on your LG mobile and it should display “Phone Restricted”.

3. Select “Cancel” and the LG phone will display “phone restriction code”.

4. Now, enter your LG unlock code.

5. Hit OK and your phone should be unlocked!
